Thodoris Zaras and Charis Giannopoulos retire from Greek basketball

Greek basketball players Thodoris Zaras and Charis Giannopoulos have both announced their retirement from professional basketball. The two veteran shooters leave behind a combined legacy of 907 successful three-pointers in the Greek Basketball League (GBL).

Thodoris Zaras concluded his nearly 18-year career, which began in 2008 with AE Larisa. Throughout his career, he played for several prominent clubs, including Aris, PAOK, and Iraklis, finishing with 445 successful three-pointers, ranking him 12th on the league's all-time list. In his retirement announcement, Zaras expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, and teammates for the experiences and friendships gained throughout his journey.

Charis Giannopoulos retired shortly before Zaras, ending a career that spanned nearly 20 years since his 2006 debut with PAOK. Giannopoulos recorded 462 successful three-pointers, placing him 9th on the GBL's all-time list. His career included stints with major teams such as Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and AEK.
