Thol. Thirumavalavan addresses VCK departure from DMK alliance

Thol. Thirumavalavan, leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), has addressed the party's departure from the DMK-led secular alliance. He clarified that the VCK did not leave the coalition, but rather the lack of harmonious relations within the alliance led to their current position.

Thirumavalavan revealed that during internal discussions, party member Adhav Arjuna had suggested campaigning with the premise that Thirumavalavan should be the next Chief Minister for the 2026 assembly elections. However, Thirumavalavan declined this approach, stating he did not want to break the DMK-led secular coalition, especially given the efforts of the RSS and BJP to establish roots in Tamil Nadu.

He further criticized the management of the alliance, citing issues such as the disproportionate allocation of seats to the DMDK and the perceived lack of space for other partners like Kamal Haasan's party. He emphasized that maintaining healthy relationships within a coalition is the responsibility of the leadership, noting that the VCK chose its current path to ensure its political interests were protected.
