The number has been interpreted by observers as a potential reference to the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and a possible Chief Ministerial ambition. This follows similar cinematic references seen in recent popular media regarding political aspirations.

Further controversy has emerged regarding the authenticity of the vehicle's registration. Reports citing the government’s Parivahan database suggest that the number ‘TN 07 CM 2031’ is actually registered to a Honda Dio two-wheeler from 2018, rather than the car used by Thirumavalavan. While the car is reportedly owned by a supporter and not the VCK leader himself, questions remain regarding the use of the registration number.
