Thomann releases film exploring scientific benefits of music

Thomann has launched a new YouTube film titled ‘More Than Music’ to highlight the scientific connection between music, science, and medicine. The project aims to demonstrate how music can serve as a therapeutic tool in various challenging life situations.

Key scientific findings presented in the film include music's ability to reactivate memories in individuals with dementia, positively influence the development of premature infants, and assist in regulating depression. Additionally, music can aid in speech rehabilitation following a stroke by engaging neural networks through melodic speech and singing. Other benefits mentioned include stress reduction and the strengthening of social bonds through collective music-making.

To ensure scientific accuracy, the production was developed in collaboration with the German Music Therapy Society and advised by medical professionals and researchers, including experts from the University Hospital Essen, the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research, and clinical music therapists from Graz.
