Thomas A. H. Schöck, former FAU Chancellor, dies at 77
The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has announced the passing of former Chancellor Dr. jur. h. c. Thomas A. H. Schöck at the age of 77.
Schöck served as the university's chancellor for over 25 years, making him the longest-serving chancellor in Bavaria. During his tenure, he was instrumental in transitioning the institution from a traditional university to a competitive, internationally recognized university.
His contributions included driving innovation in university management and championing equality initiatives. Notably, under his leadership in 1989, the university appointed its first female representative, leading to the development of various gender equality measures and support structures for families in academia.
