Thomas Anders rejects concert requests in Russia

Singer Thomas Anders has reaffirmed his decision to decline concert requests in Russia, citing his moral compass and opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the talk format ‘MusikerGrillen’ by WELT and Rolling Stone, the 63-year-old artist explained that he cannot approve of the current political situation and the imperialist actions being taken.

Anders noted that while he previously performed in the region during the era of the Soviet Union, the current conflict and the targeting of Ukrainians make performing there impossible for him. He also addressed the influence of propaganda on fans, stating that while some initially viewed the conflict as a ‘military operation,’ many have since come to understand his stance.
