Thomas Bucheli retires from SRF Meteo after 34 years

Thomas Bucheli has retired from SRF Meteo after nearly 34 years with the broadcaster. His final broadcast took place on Wednesday, marking the end of a career that began at SRF in 1992, with Bucheli serving as the head of Meteo since 1995.

During his final appearance, colleagues presented him with a thank-you message and a fog machine. Bucheli expressed his gratitude to the audience for their trust, interest, and constructive criticism. He noted that his final summer would be remembered for extreme heat and drought.

Bucheli had already handed over his leadership position to Gaudenz Flury in June. He described the transition as painless, noting that Flury had long held leadership roles within the organization. Bucheli reflected on his tenure, highlighting the importance of his team and the evolving needs of the medium.
