Panama renews Thomas Christiansen as head coach until 2030

The Panamanian Football Federation (FPF) has officially renewed Thomas Christiansen as the head coach of the men’s senior national team through 2030. This extension aims to establish a long-term project focused on qualifying for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Christiansen, who has led the team since 2020, has overseen significant improvements, including a rise in the FIFA rankings from 81st to 29th and reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa América. His new mandate includes managing a generational transition and implementing a unified methodology across all male youth and senior categories.

To support this structural growth, the FPF has also hired Pedro Morilla Pineda as the coach and methodology lead for the men’s youth national teams. Morilla Pineda will specifically oversee the U-16 squad as they prepare for the UNCAF tournament in El Salvador.
