Thomas Daddy Brima released on bail after arrest in Magburaka
Former Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Thomas Daddy Brima has been released on bail following his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Freetown.
Brima was apprehended on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Magburaka, Tonkolili District, while performing duties related to the National Sports Authority or inspecting youth sports infrastructure. The arrest is reportedly linked to a government school construction project involving teachers’ quarters at the Magburaka school compound, which has reportedly exceeded its completion deadline.
This incident is separate from a 2025 investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission, which involved allegations of embezzling over $720,000 in football development funds. Brima has previously denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
