Thomas Gigler goes overboard from Carnival Panorama near Mexico

Thomas Gigler, a 56-year-old father of three from Redlands, California, went overboard from the Carnival Panorama during a wedding anniversary cruise. The incident occurred on September 19 while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, toward Long Beach, California, near the coast of Baja California.

Gigler’s wife, Michelle, raised the alarm after he could not be located. Following the report, crew members ordered passengers to return to their staterooms to facilitate a thorough deck-by-deck search and accountability check. Security footage reviewed after the incident reportedly captured the moment Gigler exited the vessel’s 11th deck.

The U.S. and Mexican Coast Guards were notified and launched search operations, but Gigler has not yet been found. His family expressed confusion regarding the event, with his sister stating they believe he was not in his right mind. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident and stated that search and investigation procedures were initiated immediately.
