Thomas Meunier expressed significant disappointment following his debut for Sunderland in a match against Ipswich Town. Despite a free-kick equalizer from Nilson Angulo that briefly revitalized the team, Sunderland suffered a defeat.

The 34-year-old defender noted that the team's performance did not reflect their training sessions during the week. Meunier remarked, “I am very disappointed. To be honest, I did not expect this.” He added that while the team showed improved movement and impact after the equalizer, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

Reflecting on his transition to the league, Meunier suggested that the environment may be new to him, stating, “Maybe the Premier League is still new to me. You don't always know what to expect and you cannot underestimate anyone.” He further criticized the team's offensive output, arguing they should have created more significant chances within the penalty area.
