Thomas Müller names Lionel Messi as football’s greatest

German football legend Thomas Müller has stated that Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, marking a shift from his previous preference for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Müller explained that during the first decade of his career, he favored Ronaldo, partly due to the difficulty of facing him while playing for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid. However, after evaluating the “bigger picture,” including Messi’s performances in recent FIFA World Cups and the overall enjoyment of watching him play, Müller concluded that Messi holds the title of the greatest footballer, distinguishing him from being merely the greatest goal scorer or winner.

Müller, who won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany and achieved significant success with Bayern Munich, is currently playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer.
