Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro appointed CEO of Garuda Indonesia

Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro has been appointed as the President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk following an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on October 8, 2026. Oentoro succeeds Glenny H. Kairupan, who has transitioned from the role of President Director to President Commissioner.

This leadership transition occurs as the national flag carrier continues its transformation process following debt restructuring. Key objectives for the new management team include strengthening financial health, recovering fleet capacity, driving revenue growth, and ensuring long-term business sustainability.

Oentoro brings a background in finance, having previously served as Deputy President Director at Garuda, an Independent Commissioner, and Chief Risk Officer at the Indonesia Investment Authority. Other key appointments in the new leadership structure include Alan McIntyre as Commercial Director and Eric Ferdinand Sofyal as Operations Director.
