Thomas Tuchel warns Cole Palmer over repeated England absences

England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed frustration following Cole Palmer’s withdrawal from the national squad ahead of UEFA Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia, and Croatia. The Chelsea forward cited muscular discomfort and pain, which Tuchel noted prevents him from competing at the highest level.

Tuchel described the situation as “another missed opportunity,” emphasizing that Palmer has missed too many international camps due to injury. The manager stressed that consistent presence in camp is essential for players to build trust and impress the coaching staff, stating, “If you are not in camp, there is a next level to impress that you cannot achieve.”

Tuchel also dismissed suggestions that the player’s absence was a matter of club-directed load management, clarifying that Chelsea informed the national team of the injury. Palmer joins several other notable players, including Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, and Kobbie Mainoo, who have also been ruled out of the upcoming international window due to fitness concerns.
