Thomas Tuchel prioritizes England national team over club workloads

England national team manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that the interests of the national team will take priority over Premier League club concerns regarding player minutes during international breaks. Following a 2-3 defeat to Spain in the UEFA Nations League, Tuchel emphasized that squad selection will be based on England's requirements rather than club requests to manage player workloads.

Tuchel noted that while certain players like Declan Rice require individual management due to high workloads, he will not allow players to reduce intensity or skip matches solely for load management. He intends to maintain a consistent core of six or seven players to build squad trust and responsibility ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Additionally, Tuchel addressed the long-term challenge of replacing Harry Kane. Describing Kane as a “complete package” and a unique leader, Tuchel admitted that finding a direct successor will be difficult. While the team is exploring different options, such as utilizing Jude Bellingham in a number nine role, Tuchel acknowledged that a permanent solution may not arrive for many years.
