Thomas van Groningen reports mental health struggles linked to Ozempic

Dutch presenter Thomas van Groningen has shared that he experienced a significant mental health decline while using the weight-loss medication Ozempic. In an interview with De Telegraaf, the 36-year-old Nieuws van de Dag host stated that the medication caused increased sensitivity to social interactions and feelings of anxiety regarding others' perceptions.

Van Groningen reported that even positive comments felt hostile during this period, describing it as a time when he “never felt so unhappy.” He noted that these negative feelings subsided within a week of discontinuing the medication.

Regarding his professional career, the 2025 Televizier-Ring Talent winner and current Presenter nominee expressed his ambition to improve the image of Nieuws van de Dag. He aims to broaden the program's audience and move away from certain media labels following the departures of previous presenters Art Rooijakkers and Malou Petter.
