Thompson concert in Zaprešić draws 30,000 fans, traffic chaos ensues

Organisers publicised an extensive traffic plan: the town centre was to be closed to private cars, motorists were directed to the Westgate shopping‑centre parking lot and offered a free shuttle to the stadium. In practice, many access roads were blocked, and several attendees reported that police prevented vehicles from entering Westgate, forcing pedestrians – some with children – onto the A3 highway. One witness said, “Zatvorili su sve prilaze prema Westgateu, policija je tjerala ljude da s djecom idu preko ograde na naplatnim kućicama.”

Police later detained six people for public‑order offences and said they were reviewing footage related to possible nationalist symbols. City officials noted that after the concert the streets and stadium were cleaned by early morning crews, and many locals praised the orderly clean‑up.

Overall, the event combined a large‑scale cultural draw with notable traffic‑management problems and a limited police response.
