Thompson Rivers University hosts international summer learners
Thompson Rivers University’s International Training Centre (ITC) hosted nearly 300 international learners for short-term, non-credit summer programs at its Kamloops campus. Participants arrived from Taiwan, China, Mexico, South Korea, and Japan to engage in language learning, professional development, and cultural exchange.
These programs focus on flexible experiences outside traditional credit-based curricula, including English language development and career skills. Some initiatives emphasized Indigenous cultures and knowledge; for example, a program for 20 students from Taiwan, held in collaboration with the Taiwan Ministry of Education, included activities such as a plant walk and a welcome ceremony with an Elder.
