Thorgan Hazard scores decisive goal for RC Lens

Thorgan Hazard has secured a decisive role for RC Lens following a difficult period marked by personal and professional challenges. The 33-year-old Belgian international contributed an assist to Florian Thauvin and scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Paris FC.

His performance follows a challenging start to his tenure at Lens, which included physical adaptation issues following a knee injury in April 2024 and a period of personal instability after separating from the mother of his four daughters. Hazard also faced difficulties finding stable housing in the Lille metropolitan area, a situation he has since resolved by moving into the former residence of former Lens defender Deiver Machado.

After struggling to maintain a regular position in the rotation and facing criticism from supporters, Hazard’s recent contribution marks his first goal since April. The attacker joined Lens on a free transfer from Anderlecht, where he had previously recorded 13 goals and eight assists.
