Thorson and Kreisel win Hockett-McMillin Memorial races

Tanner Thorson and Riley Kreisel secured emotional victories during the 16th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.

In the POWRi WAR wingless sprint feature, Riley Kreisel took the lead on lap 20 and maintained it through five cautions and a red flag. Kreisel finished 1.7 seconds ahead of Wesley Smith to claim his 15th career WAR victory and $5,077. The win was particularly significant for Kreisel as he sought to bring the trophy to the hometown of the late Jesse Hockett.

Tanner Thorson won the High Limit Racing/POWRi 410 Sprints feature, earning $25,000. Thorson’s victory was dedicated to JT Nichols, a tire specialist for JST Motorsports and a cousin of the late Jesse Hockett. The memorial event honors the legacies of Hockett, a national sprint car star who died in 2010, and his cousin Daniel McMillin, who passed away in 2006.
