Thorsten Fuchs takes leadership of Rüsselsheim am Main Fire Department

Thorsten Fuchs has officially assumed leadership of the Rüsselsheim am Main fire department as of October 1, 2026. He succeeds Jörg Wintermeyer, who retired after 18 years of service to the city, including seven years as the head of the fire department.

Fuchs brings extensive experience in fire services and civil protection. His previous roles include service with the Wiesbaden professional fire department and a position at the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, Security, and Home Affairs, where he served as deputy head of the department for disaster and home defense and was responsible for the Hessian state government's crisis management team.

The Rüsselsheim fire department operates through a combination of professional and volunteer forces. The professional division consists of 68 personnel working in shifts at the main station, while four volunteer fire departments in the districts of Königstädten, Haßloch, Bauschheim, and Stadtmitte provide support with a total of 204 members.
