Thousands attend Baba Mahakal Temple's Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain

On June 6‑7, the Baba Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, held a special Bhasma Aarti during the Jyestha Amavasya Krishna Paksha period. The deity was adorned with a bhang‑made tripund, a moon on the head and a divine trinetra, and was offered water, Panchamrit, milk and yogurt. The ceremony began at Brahma Muhurat as the temple gates opened, accompanied by drums, conches and chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal” throughout the precinct.

Thousands of pilgrims from across India and abroad arrived the night before and formed long queues. Temple authorities deployed additional staff and security to manage the crowds, ensuring smooth entry and safety. The event drew massive participation, with worshippers seeking the spiritual merit believed to be granted by witnessing the Bhasma Aarti.
