Berlin and Stuttgart host mass protests against rearmament and military service

Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in Berlin and Stuttgart to demonstrate against military buildup, the potential reintroduction of compulsory military service, and perceived cuts to social welfare. Organized by a broad coalition of over 300 organizations, the demonstrations focused on demands for diplomacy over arms deliveries and the preservation of social security systems.

In Berlin, a large-scale rally featured musical performances from artists such as K.I.Z and Disarstar, drawing significant crowds. Protesters expressed concerns that increased military spending would come at the expense of education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

In Stuttgart, the demonstrations were marked by tension when BSW politician Sevim Dagdelen was interrupted by masked individuals during her speech. The group, identified as an antifascist intervention, attempted to storm the stage, leading to police intervention and several arrests. The incident has sparked political debate regarding the reaction of members from the Left Party toward the disruption.
