Thép Xanh Nam Định names Nguyễn Xuân Son as vice-captain

Thép Xanh Nam Định has announced its leadership structure for the 2026/27 V-League season, prioritizing stability by maintaining much of its existing management. Goalkeeper Trần Nguyên Mạnh will continue to serve as the team captain.

Striker Nguyễn Xuân Son has been appointed as one of the four vice-captains, alongside Nguyễn Văn Toàn, Tô Văn Vũ, and Nguyễn Phong Hồng Duy. Despite his recent high-profile status and financial rewards following the ASEAN Cup 2026, the club opted to keep the leadership structure consistent rather than altering it based on individual fame.

Nguyễn Xuân Son, born Rafaelson Bezerra Fernandes in Brazil, has become a prominent naturalized player for both Thép Xanh Nam Định and the Vietnam national team. His professional journey began in Brazil's youth system at Vitória, where he made his top-flight debut in 2016.
