Threads tests automatic transcription for podcast clips

Threads is currently testing new features designed to promote podcast content on its platform, including an automatic transcription tool for audio clips. Announced by Threads head Connor Hayes, this feature would allow users to read transcriptions of audio clips while scrolling through their feeds, even if their device volume is muted.

This development is part of a broader effort by the Meta-owned service to support creators and expand beyond its text-based origins into audio and audiovisual formats. The move follows Threads reaching a milestone of 500 million monthly active users in June. While the automatic transcription is one of several tools being considered, there is no official guarantee yet regarding its final release.
