Threats to N1 Director Branislav Šovljanski Spur Calls for Police Action

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) condemned a series of threatening messages sent to N1 television director Branislav Šovljanski and his family. The messages, posted from an account identifying as “Srbin”, contained violent language and explicit threats of murder and assault. ANEM demanded that police and the prosecutor’s office quickly identify and prosecute the sender, noting that similar intimidation had been reported in recent weeks against N1 staff and Veran Matić. The association called on domestic and international bodies to protect journalists and to obtain data on the owners of accounts that spread hate speech in Serbia.
