Three arrested in Brazil for murder and bank card fraud

Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of 70-year-old Ramona Irene. The victim, a resident of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, had gone missing after traveling to Manga, in northern Minas Gerais, to meet a man with whom she was in a relationship.

Investigators determined that the victim was strangled and struck in the back of the head with an axe. Following the murder, the suspects attempted to burn the body before burying it in a shallow grave in Jaíba.

Police were able to track the suspects by monitoring unauthorized transactions made with the victim’s bank card after her disappearance. The financial activity led investigators to the purchase of tools, including a shovel and an axe, which were allegedly used in the commission of the crime. The suspects remain in custody in Jaíba as the investigation continues.
