Three brown bears found shot dead at Bingöl landfill

Three brown bears were found shot dead at a solid waste storage facility in the Kiğı district of Bingöl, Turkey. The carcasses showed gunshot wounds specifically to the head and back areas.

Cüneyt Cici, president of the Kiğı Online Science, Culture, Art and Solidarity Association, stated that the bears had been visiting the landfill for food for a long time and were often observed by locals without harm. Cici expressed concern over the incident, noting that while there had been rumors of wildlife being killed in the area, the discovery of the three bears was unexpected.

Cici has called for an official investigation to identify and punish those responsible, suggesting the killings were intentional. He noted that the area is accessible via a single road that is easily monitored and that the sound of gunfire would have been difficult to miss.
