Three Brussels police inspectors injured during clash with Hammarby supporters
Three police inspectors were lightly wounded after supporters of Swedish football club Hammarby IF sparked unrest at Brussels' Beursplein. Around 150 noisy fans gathered, with a second group of about 50 displaying ultra‑style behaviour, lighting fireworks on a lion statue and chanting provocatively.
Police were pelted with projectiles and repeatedly attacked, forcing them to withdraw temporarily. Officers used pepper spray; a water cannon was present but not deployed. Reinforcements restored order by early morning (around 01:30). Three complaints were filed for assaults, and several police vehicles sustained damage.
