Three charged in Australian cocaine smuggling plot

Three individuals face potential life imprisonment following the interception of 120 kilograms of cocaine in Victoria, Australia. The drugs were discovered by Australian Border Force officers on October 9, concealed within two cabinets declared as household furniture in a consignment originating from Greece.

Following the detection of the substance via X-ray, the Victorian Joint Organised Crime Taskforce conducted a controlled delivery of the shipment to a storage facility in Essendon. Police arrested a 49-year-old woman in Pascoe Vale, who is alleged to have coordinated the collection, a 31-year-old man in Rockbank who allegedly transported the consignment, and a 40-year-old man in Cairnlea involved in the subsequent movement of the drugs.

The trio has been charged with importing and attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. While the woman was granted conditional bail, the two men were refused bail at the Melbourne Magistrates Court and are scheduled to reappear on February 10.
