Three Colombian soldiers prosecuted for leaking data to Clan del Golfo

Three members of the Colombian National Army have been prosecuted for selling classified information to the ‘Clan del Golfo’ criminal organization. The individuals, identified as Lieutenant Andrés Felipe Bravo Olaya and Second Sergeants Jaime Alejandro Sicacha López and José Edier Henao Luna, allegedly provided data regarding troop locations and patrol routes in the regions of Antioquia, Córdoba, and Bolívar.

The investigation revealed that the network operated between 2022 and 2025, facilitated by Teresa Jaramillo Giraldo, known as ‘La Tía’. The military personnel, who were assigned to battalions in Caucasia and southern Bolívar, reportedly received payments in exchange for early warnings about military movements. For instance, in January 2022, Bravo Olaya allegedly received one million pesos to report troop displacements in Ayapel, Córdoba.

Following operations by the CTI and the National Police, the suspects were captured in Cali, Distracción, and Yopal. During judicial hearings, prosecutors charged them with aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, bribery, and aggravated revelation of secrets. Sergeant Sicacha López has accepted the charges and was granted house arrest, while the other two defendants were remanded to preventive prison.
