Three dead, 20 injured in weekend road accidents across Goiás, Brazil

Over the weekend, the Federal Highway Police recorded 24 accidents on federal highways in the state of Goiás. The incidents left three people dead and 20 injured.

The first fatality occurred on Saturday night at km 392 of BR‑414 near Corumbá de Goiás, where a 39‑year‑old man was run over by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene. On Sunday afternoon two further deaths happened: a 42‑year‑old woman died after her car collided with a motorcycle and overturned on BR‑452 in Rio Verde, and a 40‑year‑old driver died when his vehicle left the road and fell from a viaduct at km 556 of BR‑153 near Piracanjuba.

In addition to the fatalities, 20 people were treated for injuries, and police issued 432 traffic citations for infractions such as speeding and failure to wear seatbelts.
