Global reports of fatal flash floods and traffic accidents
Multiple fatal accidents and natural disasters have been reported across Brazil and the United States.
In the United States, a flash flood in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, has left at least one person dead and approximately 15 people missing. The flooding damaged infrastructure, including the Transcanyon Waterline and several walkways, leading to the evacuation of 62 people and the suspension of rafting activities on the Colorado River.
In Brazil, several traffic incidents resulted in fatalities. In Águas Lindas de Goiás, three people died after their vehicle fell into a ravine on the BR-070. In Itabirito, Minas Gerais, a collision involving three cars killed a 16-year-old and two elderly individuals on the BR-040. In Francisco Beltrão, Paraná, a driver was indicted for manslaughter after a collision with a motorcycle killed a 17-year-old; investigators noted the driver showed signs of intoxication and had repeatedly crossed into oncoming traffic.
Additionally, a boat shipwreck in the Paranaíba River in Corumbaíba, Goiás, concluded with the recovery of the final victim, civil police officer Jorge Luiz R. Ferreira. A multi-vehicle pileup on the Mogi-Bertioga highway in São Paulo left 16 people injured, and a hit-and-run on the BR-272 in Francisco Alves injured a father and his 5-year-old daughter.
