Three foreign nationals missing after entering Croatia's Sava River

Three male foreign citizens entered the Sava River near Okunšćak in the municipality of Rugvica, Croatia, on 19 July 2026 and have not been found. Volunteer firefighting society DVD Rugvica, the Zagreb County fire service and police units began a search operation, calling on anyone with information to contact emergency numbers 192 or 112, or the fire brigade’s hotline 099 819 1778.

Reports indicate the men may be Egyptians or Nepalese; personal items were recovered on the riverbank. Fire service commander Dario Kezerić warned that the Sava is a strong‑current river and described the conditions as hazardous for rescue teams. The search continues as authorities assess the circumstances of the disappearance.
