Naples Court Acquits Pizzeria Owner and Five Others in Contini Clan Money‑Laundering Case

The first criminal section of the Tribunal of Naples pronounced a full acquittal for Massimiliano Di Caprio, the proprietor of the “Dal Presidente” pizzeria in Via dei Tribunali, and the five co‑defendants. The court ruled that “the fact does not exist”, overturning the prosecution’s claim that the restaurant was used to launder proceeds of the Contini clan, part of the Secondigliano alliance.

All seized assets were ordered to be returned, including the historic pizzeria, a bakery previously placed under judicial administration, several high‑value properties in prestigious city districts, approximately €360,000 in cash, and luxury watches such as Rolexes. The verdict reverses earlier requests for prison terms of six to seven years and the total confiscation of the assets.

The defence highlighted that the investigators failed to prove any link between Di Caprio’s business and the clan’s illicit funds, describing the judgement as a restoration of dignity for an entrepreneur who had risen from a difficult past to become a prominent restaurateur in Naples and Italy.
