Three Kidnapping Suspects Killed in Mariannhill Shootout, KZN Police Say

In the early hours of 20 May 2026, police in KwaZulu‑Natal (KZN) engaged three suspects wanted in a Greenwood Park kidnapping and fraud case. Officers spotted the suspects driving along Milky Way Road in Mariannhill, Durban, attempted to stop the vehicle and, after the suspects fled, pursued them. A gun battle erupted; the suspects’ vehicle lost control and struck a tree. All three suspects were fatally wounded. Police reported no injuries among officers and recovered two firearms and ammunition. The investigation remains ongoing.
