Kosovo migrants killed in Germany highway crash

Three members of a family from Komogllava e Ferizajt, Kosovo – Tahir Aliu (61), his son Gentian Aliu (34) and grandson Laurent Aliu (16) – died in a traffic accident on the A3 highway near Nittendorf in the Regensburg district of Bavaria, Germany. The vehicle left the road, slid down an embankment and fell onto railway tracks, blocking the line and halting traffic for several hours. Rescue crews required a winch to extract the occupants, and a freight train was later pulled away by a diesel locomotive.

German police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation and a prosecutor‑appointed expert is reconstructing the scene. Kosovo’s ambassador to Germany, Faruk Ajeti, expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and confirmed that the Kosovo embassy is in close contact with German authorities regarding the incident.
