Three men jailed for assault on football fan in Glasgow

Three men have been sentenced to prison following a “ferocious” assault on a 48-year-old football fan outside Ibrox stadium in Glasgow. The incident occurred on March 8 following a Scottish Cup quarter-final match between Rangers and Celtic.

Scott Dragsness, 55, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, while Ben Stanex, 24, and Andrew Graham, 21, each received 12-month sentences. The court heard the men knocked the victim to the ground as he attempted to board a Celtic supporters’ bus, subsequently kicking and stamping on his head and body. The attack, which was captured by a police drone and a motorist's recording, left the victim with a brain bleed. Prosecutors stated the assault was a hate crime motivated by religious prejudice.

In addition to their prison terms, all three men received seven-year football banning orders, prohibiting them from entering any football ground in the UK or traveling to support any team.
