São Paulo police officers absolved in Igor Oliveira killing
On 30 July 2026 a jury in São Paulo acquitted police officers Renato Torquatto da Cruz and Robson Noguchi de Lima for the death of 24‑year‑old Igor Oliveira de Moraes Santos. The killing occurred on 10 July 2025 during a police operation in the Paraisópolis favela, when the victim was unarmed, surrendered and had his hands on his head, as captured by body‑camera footage.
