Padova baby rescued by off‑duty Penitentiary Police

On Saturday afternoon in Padova (via Armistizio), a toddler was accidentally locked inside a car as temperatures rose sharply. Three agents of the Italian Penitentiary Police, off duty at the time, broke the driver‑side window to free the child, judging that waiting for the fire brigade would be too risky. The child was handed back to her mother unharmed. Regional President Alberto Stefani praised the agents, saying the incident showed that “the sense of belonging to the Corps and the spirit of service know no hours or borders.” The prison police union (Sappe) also commended the officers, calling for official recognition of their “professionalism, balance and courage.”
