Three police officers killed in Zamfara night ambush

Three police officers were reportedly killed during a night patrol in the Damba Division of Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Saturday, 17 October 2026. According to an anonymous source, armed men ambushed the patrol team at approximately 2am, leaving the police vehicle riddled with bullets.

The Zamfara State Police Command has not yet officially confirmed the incident or released specific details regarding the identities of the deceased.

This attack follows another violent ambush in the state just one week prior, where gunmen targeted a convoy of traders under military escort in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area. That previous incident reportedly resulted in 20 deaths, including four soldiers, three police officers, and one officer from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, alongside 12 civilians.
