Three Seas Initiative launches regional infrastructure fund
The Three Seas Initiative has launched a new regional infrastructure fund of funds, aimed at mobilizing at least two billion euros for infrastructure projects. The initiative seeks to attract additional private and institutional capital to accelerate the development of energy, transport, digital, and social infrastructure across the region between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas.
The fund is a collaborative effort involving the European Investment Fund (EIF) and national development banks from six countries: Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Lithuania, and Bulgaria. The initial capital commitment totals 360 million euros, with the six national development banks providing 180 million euros and the EIF matching that amount with an equal contribution.
This program represents the first multi-state investment program by the EIF specifically targeting infrastructure through investments in multiple infrastructure funds. The goal is to enhance regional connectivity, economic growth, and competitiveness among member states.
