Three sentenced for threatening Atlas Çağlayan’s family after his killing

A Turkish court sentenced several defendants for threatening the family of 16‑year‑old Atlas Çağlayan, who was stabbed to death in Güngören on 14 January. Om​er Faruk Ay received five years for organized threats, while a minor identified as Y.T. was given three years and four months. Om​er Can Özdoğan was sentenced to two years and one month for illegal acquisition and dissemination of personal data. Four other suspects were acquitted. The verdict was delivered by the 19th Criminal Court of Bakırköy.

The case followed extensive investigation after the teen’s murder, during which prosecutors linked the defendants to a criminal network used to intimidate the victim’s relatives.
