Three special‑education teachers gain permanent roles in Modena after union action

Three support teachers who had been placed on a reserve list for the province of Modena's first‑tier GPS (ADEE) for the 2022‑2024 biennium were finally granted permanent positions following pressure from the local UIL Scuola union. The teachers, employed on annual contracts until 31 August 2023/24, had foreign qualifications pending recognition, which left their placement unformalised despite being in a suitable slot.

UIL Scuola of Modena, led by territorial head Dario Catapano, filed repeated requests and communications with the Regional School Office (USR) Emilia‑Romagna and the Territorial Ambit of Modena, insisting that existing national law already guaranteed the right to appointment. The union succeeded in obtaining a decree dated 16 July 2026 that named the three teachers, assigned them specific schools, and communicated the appointments by e‑mail on 29 July 2026.
