Three suspects arrested for a string of tobacco shop robberies in central Italy

Police from the Osimo Carabinieri unit dismantled a gang responsible for a series of aggravated thefts and robbery of tobacco shops between Ancona and Macerata in 2025. The perpetrators stole €2,500 in cash and merchandise worth about €13,000, including cigarettes and "Gratta e Vinci" lottery tickets. Investigators identified two Moroccan brothers, aged 32 and 24, as the primary thieves, and a 57‑year‑old Italian resident who was charged with receiving the stolen tickets for cash. The arrests close a months‑long investigation that linked the suspects to multiple nighttime break‑ins, including a robbery in Recanati.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Italian law‑enforcement to combat organized retail crime in the Marche region.
