Three suspects identified in violent Gostivar assault

On the night of 2 August 2026, 22‑year‑old A. V. and his friend L. E. were attacked on Borče Jovanovski Street in Gostivar, North Macedonia. Three unidentified men, estimated to be around 25 years old, assaulted the pair with hard objects and a wooden club, causing severe injuries; a video of the assault circulated on social media.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs coordinated an investigation, and police identified three suspects: two minors from Gostivar and a 20‑year‑old V. D. from Skopje. Their weapons were seized, and a formal indictment is expected to be filed, after which they will appear before a judge. The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to locate the remaining assailants.
