Three Young Men Arrested in Piedmont Knife-Hashish Heist

Three men aged 18 to 20, residents of Verbania in Piedmont, were arrested by the carabinieri of the Verbania Operational Section after a knife‑armed ambush on a drug courier in Laveno Mombello on 29 May. The suspects seized about 1.8 kg of hashish, threatened the victim with knives and used a peer’s messaging accounts to lure the courier to the scene. A court‑ordered custodial measure was issued by the GIP of the Varese tribunal, and the men were taken into custody on 9 July. They had previously been detained on 10 June for a similar attempted robbery, indicating a pattern of violent drug‑related offenses. The investigation continues as authorities examine evidence and assess the social danger posed by the suspects.
