Three youths arrested in Canicattì robbery gang case

Italian police and Carabinieri jointly arrested three young men suspected of leading a violent robbery gang that terrorized merchants in the Sicilian town of Canicattì. The suspects – Christian Capizzi (19), Denny Li Calzi (20) and Carmelo Pio Di Vinci (22) – were placed in pre‑trial detention by the Agrigento court.

Authorities allege the gang carried out a series of "spaccata" break‑ins and assaults on shopkeepers between late 2025 and early 2026, stealing cash, keys, vehicles and credit‑card information. Investigators linked the suspects to the crimes through CCTV footage, mobile phone location data, forensic traces and even a TikTok video showing the same clothing worn during a robbery. Two additional minors are under separate investigation.

The operation, directed by Commissario Gerlando Scimè and Carabinieri Captain Davide Di Campli, resulted in the seizure of evidence and the arrest of the three alleged perpetrators, who now face charges of robbery, aggravated assault, theft and illegal use of credit cards.
