European Heritage Days to feature diverse cultural events across France
The European Heritage Days will take place on September 19 and 20, 2026, across various French municipalities, offering diverse cultural programming.
In the Terres de Montaigu region, nine communes have organized approximately 35 events. Highlights include visits to the La Guérinière megalithic site, agricultural heritage tours in Treize-Septiers, and bread-making demonstrations in Saint-Georges-de-Montaigu. A 13 km cycling route, 'Les Échappées', will also explore Montaigu-Vendée.
In Viarmes, the event focuses on hydraulic heritage through guided tours of medieval networks and a musical hike featuring harp performances at various sites like the Giez mill and Royaumont cloister. Meanwhile, La Chevallerais will host photo exhibitions at the Notre-Dame de Bonne Nouvelle church and a guided walk exploring local history, including the Nantes to Brest canal.
These celebrations aim to showcase local history, religious heritage, and traditional craftsmanship through guided tours, exhibitions, and interactive activities.
