Thunderbirds headline New York state air shows in Rochester and Orange County
The New York Air Show at Orange County Airport on Aug. 1‑2 was led by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The show also featured the West Point Parachute Team, a B‑25J Mitchell bomber, a C‑17 Globemaster III and other historic and modern aircraft.
The Rochester International Air Show, taking place the same weekend, welcomed the Thunderbirds on Tuesday for a practice flyover. Airport Director Andy Moore explained that commercial flights will be paused or rescheduled while the Thunderbirds and F‑35 jets perform, with some flights moved to earlier or later slots. A temporary drone‑restriction zone of 5.5 nautical miles will be enforced from Friday through Sunday.
